"Capital is dead labour, which, vampire-like, lives only by sucking living labour, and lives the more, the more labour it sucks."
Karl Marx, Capital: Volume 1 (1867)
• Author's Notes
RE: Eccentra Manuscript
Bigger than medicine — it's a lifestyle. A status symbol. A belief system. And like any belief system, it asks something in return.

RE: Twilight
The term "vampire" is a slur in this universe. The ascended like to consider themselves a marginalized minority, so use of the v-word is often a socially punishable offense, i.e., firing, expulsion, online cancellation, etc.
Author's Notes
Vampires have always narratively reflected the evolving fears of society. Eccentra is an allegory for the pillars of our decline:
• late-stage capitalism ➞ techno-feudalism ➞ colonial imperialism
• white supremacy
• patriarchal religious authoritarianism⤷ The ruling class quite literally feeds on the working class.
⤷ God is dead and has been replaced by the worship of possessions, brands, and idols.
⤷ The allegorical corporate priesthood launders power through sanctity, by brainwashing a culture to treat routine consumption as near-religious devotion.
Eccentra is inevitably a series. Book one navigates socio-economic collapse of a blood-thirsty system, but offers no practical guide for reform, restoration, or revolution. Book two confronts the aftermath of structural collapse, anarchism, and the blood-sweat-n-tears of what comes next. When the system starts to rot, everyone reaches for the scalpel. No one agrees where to cut.Insidiously,
